Weather front coming through tomorrow so, as usual, my knees are killing me. I was a Diesel Mechanic for about 25 yrs and towards the last of it, my knees started giving out. I worked as long as I could and finally my doctor put me on so many restrictions, that I couldn't work there anymore.
And because of why I couldn't work there, no one else would hire me. Long story short: I ended up on Social Security Disability. And my knees are considerably worse now than they were then. My left knee is the one that gives me most grief, but this winter, my right is starting to have weak spells and give out. Mostly when we have rain and snow coming.
I've had surgeries, injections, therapy and drugs. I manage the drugs very carefully and so far, I haven't got addicted. Some days I take pain meds every day, and if I have a good day or days where I can do without or take over the counter, I do. I generally take just enough to take the edge off so I can function. Otherwise I'm forced to be a couch potato and I like getting out and doing things too much to do that!
Once my knees looked like the bad picture, now they're worse. And now I've got arthritis setting in my wrists, elbows, shoulders, and ankles. The doctors won't consider a replacement(s) for knees for another 10 years.
So, for now I deal with it, silently in pain mostly and go day by day...
